In 2021, I was at a crossroads in my life. I had been a stay at home mom for 19 years. My oldest was heading off to college, while I still had 4 children left at home to raise, I was searching for something more...hoping for something more...yearning for something more. I needed a new purpose and wanted more excitement in my life. I saw my daughter reaching for her dreams and I wanted to do the same.

So, I started a journey to find what I wanted to do with the next phase of my life. I wanted to create something bigger for myself and my family. I wanted to be the example to my 4 daughters and 1 son of what was possible.

​

I set an appointment at the local college to meet with a career specialist. I took many online interest tests and personality tests. I wasn't even sure how to answer most of the questions. For the last 20 years, my life had revolved around raising kids from the time I was 23 to my current age of 42. I had supported a husband in his career, cheered my children on in their successes and served everyone around me, but where did that leave me? Who was I?

Thru many life changing experiences that year, I struggled to find the right fit.

​

One day I was led to an invitation to go to school to become a Life Coach. I had life coached personally with a coach many times, but never considered doing it myself.

​

All of a sudden, the puzzle pieces started falling in place. I saw my interests aligning with coaching. I realized all the skills I had acquired thru my 20 years as a stay at home mom were perfect for this career. I knew how to listen, how to ask questions, how to support, how to love, how to show concern and how to plan. I knew how to give space to people to let them make choices and come to their own decisions.

So I did the scariest thing, outside of becoming a mom, that I had ever done.

​

I went to the website for The Life Coach School and I applied and pushed submit application and made my first payment. I was shaking as I pushed the button. I sat in my chair and waivered in my decision. Was I good enough? Would this be a waste of my money? What would it really require of my time? Can I be a mom and have a successful business? Am I even smart enough to do this? What will other people think?

​

It is easier to stay small and stay the same. Those around us like for us to stay the same. It creates consistency and balance. But I refuse to stay small!

​

Here I sit, after completing my life coach training and I am starting a business. I am still full of questions and doubt, but I am gaining confidence that I am so much more than I can even fathom with my small human brain.

​

I have potential that I can't even imagine, just waiting inside of me.

I can make a difference.

I can be the change in the world.

I can be the example of what is actually possible.

 

Before kids, I earned a Bachelor's of Arts in English Literature. I have edited 6 published books just for fun and for no payment. Never did I imagine I would be starting a business and combining my two loves...editing and coaching.

It feels like a dream.
