As a mom, I hear “I don't know” or some form of this all day! And guess what, it isn't my kids saying it all day. It is my brain telling me this all day!
I question my skills, my abilities, my desires.
Did you know that this is simply a thought? It is not the truth.
Too often we believe all the thoughts we think. Our brain finds evidence that this is just the way things are. I just don't know.
So, what do you do when your brain offers the thought, “I don't know"? I like to take the thought and question it.
I say, “What would I do if I did know?” or “Where would I find the answer?”
Then my brain gets working on that question. Quickly, my brain comes up with many ideas for the thing that was stumping me.
Here's an example:
"I don't know how to lose weight."
I re-phrase the thought to say, “If I did know how to lose weight, what would I do?”
Then my brain quickly offers,
I would reach out to my friend who lost weight recently and ask her what she did,
I would follow IG accounts of people who got results that I am wanting,
I would download a new Fitness app and try some new videos,
I would add more vegetables in my meals,
I would drink 100 oz. of water everyday,
I would eat more protein to build muscle…
I literally came up with all those solutions in about 30 seconds. My brain is so fast.
Moral of the story:
If you want a solution to something, ask your brain a good question.
