The more you let go, the higher you rise,
When confronted with hard things, do you get curious or downtrodden?
If you are like me, I dwell on the hard things for a while, then I start asking myself curious questions to see if I can make some traction in my life.
For instance, recently we moved…within the first few months, the downstairs heater stopped working, our hot water heater went out (right before I was hosting Thanksgiving dinner), our hot tub starting having problems and emptying randomly, and it was the beginning of all the Holidays, so stress was super high!
I moped and complained for a while, then I said, “What is going right?” My family was healthy, my daughter was coming home from college, every week there were a few less boxes than the week before, my marriage was strong, my business had 2 new writing clients, we had a warranty policy that covered all the repairs and I could continue the list.
Those were some hard things for me to deal with, but I realized the good things were pretty good. Things came into focus!
I had to practice this many times during that period. The water heater part took over 9 weeks to come in, but I had YouTube and found a quick fix that let the water heater work a little longer despite needing the part. Thank goodness for YouTube!
Keep asking “What is going right?”
